About Us

Who are we?

We are one of six medicines for children local research networks and cover Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales. There are five other medicines for research networks (MCRN) across the country, and all of them support the same clinical trials.

What do we do?

Through a place called the co-ordinating centre based at Liverpool, suitable research trials are adopted following a review by experts (clinical studies groups).

The local research networks are then responsible for supporting the research trials which includes setting them up at sites and finding children that can take part in our trials). Once someone has taken part in a trial we can then feed those results back and improve treatment for sick children.

What area do we cover?

We cover a big area which includes 12 hospitals along with lots of other organisations which you could come across on your trip before visiting Alder Hey Children's hospital.

Those that are aged between 0 and 19 years old can participate in our trials depending on the criteria of the trial.
